FL: While on-street parking in downtown Sarasota will continue
to be free, the parking violation structure will change effective
Tues., December 1, 2009. The most frequent parking violations
will have new
fines, including:
• Parking over posted time
limit - $25
• Expired meter - $35
• Parking in restricted area - $35
• Parking in wrong direction - $35
• Parking in loading zone - $35
• Parking in fire lane - $35
• Obstructing traffic - $35
• Illegal parking in alley - $35
Habitual parking offenders, those who receive three or more
parking citations within a 60-day period, will be assessed
a habitual offender of $35 for each ticket above three within
the 60-day period.
A $7.50 administrative fee will be applied
to a citizen requesting the dismissal of $250 citation because
they did not display their handicap parking space placard.
