Mission
To
provide administrative direction and organizational support
services for the City. General Services strives to provide
the highest level of services to both internal and external
customers.
Description
of Operations
General Services is comprised of General Services Administration,
Purchasing Department, Central Stores, Municipal Auditorium,
Payne Park Auditorium, the Federal Building, City Hall/Annex
Buildings, Maintenance, Duplicating and Mail Courier Departments.
City Hall and Annex Buildings
City Hall and the Annex Buildings are under renovation
to reconfigure additional space left vacant when the Federal
Building finished its historic renovation in June of 2003.
This new renovation has begun with the Planning Department.
Other departments which will be involved include Plans Examiners,
Neighborhood Development, Finance, City Auditor and Clerk,
Engineering, City Manager Office and City Commission.

Purchasing:
Purchasing, as a division of the Department of General
Services, is responsible for the management of all procurement
of goods and services, including construction and professional
services. Click on the icon below for more information

Facilities
Management: General Services provides direction
for the general maintenance and operation of City Hall.
This
includes the centralized printing department, the mail
department and maintenance department.

Municipal
Auditorium:The Municipal Auditorium provides the
community with a 10,000 square foot Historic building
to host a variety of community sponsored and City sponsored

Federal
Building: Completed its historic renovation in 2003.
It now houses General Services Administration, Purchasing,
Housing and Community Development, and Human Resources.
The Federal Building also provides much needed meeting
space for city departments.

Mobile
Home Park:The City of Sarasota Mobile Home Park
has closed effective April 28, 2002. For any information,
please contact General Services at 954-4190. The Mobile
Home Park Auditorium will remain open and continue its
operations. The Mobile Home Park Auditorium provides
a venue for many diversified community events. Click

Central
Stores: As a division of Purchasing, Central Stores
is responsible for the acquisition, delivery and inventory
control of office and industrial products necessary
to keep the City's various departments running efficiently.

City
Property & Asset Management:The General Services
is responsible for the acquisition and disposal of city
property and for the administration of the City's Lease
agreements. General Services tracks and disposes of
the City's assets.
